Since 1920, Central Catholic High School has been one of the most successful and storied football programs in the State of Ohio. Having won more than 500 hundred games in that time, the Irish have accumulated numerous Toledo City League titles, appeared regularly in the State Playoffs and have claimed three Ohio State Championships; a poll title in 1962 and two Division II crowns in 2005 and 2012. The Irish won four Toledo City League champions in a row, winning titles in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. During that time, the Irish established a Toledo City League record 23 straight league victories. The 2013 season brought the Irish their first Three Rivers Athletic Conference championship with a 10-0 perfect regular season.

Additionally, countless numbers of Central Catholic players have gone on to successful collegiate and professional careers. ’06 graduate Dane Sanzenbacher currently plays for the Cincinnati Bengals and ’08 grad Eric Herman is a member of the New York Giants. ’03 grad Ryne Robinson followed up his outstanding career at Miami University by being drafted in the 5th round by the Carolina Panthers. This tradition of excellence continues as Central Catholic players continue their careers at many outstanding universities across the country. In 2014 Central Catholic alumni will be on the rosters at many prolific football programs such as Notre Dame, Louisville, Duke, Miami of Ohio, Central Michigan, and University of Toledo.
