The English Department at Central Catholic High School’s main goals are to prepare students to learn how to communicate effectively, read critically, and write clearly. We are committed to the belief that all students have the opportunity to be engaged in a rigorous, challenging, and quality education. Every English class provides appropriately challenging texts and assignments. We strive to prepare our students for future academic and career pursuits as well as instill in them the beauty of language through courses like Speech & Debate and British Literature, through writing research papers and learning reading comprehension, and through learning various types of writing, such as short stories and poetry. We hope to create life-long learners, who will use their English skills throughout the journey on their God given path.
