Financial Services Office Hours:

The CCHS Financial Services Office is located in Room 105.  Our office hours during the school year are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  If you need later hours, please call 419-469-8734 so arrangements can be made.

2018-2019 Scholarships and Financial Aid:

The application period for the 2018-2019 scholarships and financial aid awards opens November 1st.  The deadline to apply for scholarships is January 15, 2018.  Please keep in mind many scholarships include a financial aid application as a requirement.  Central Catholic will continue to use FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment (FACTS) to process financial aid applications.  The deadline to apply for priority consideration of financial aid is also January 15, 2018.  Please continue reading for instructions on how to apply for either one.

Scholarships

Central Catholic High School is fortunate to have generous donors who allow the school to provide certain academic and financially based scholarships. The application period for the 2018-2019 year begins November 1, 2017 and ends January 15, 2018. Unfortunately, no applications for scholarships are accepted after the scholarship deadline of January 15, 2018.  All applicants who wish to be considered for scholarships must use the online application available here. Mother Seton Scholarship

Mother Seton is considered to be the foundress of American Catholic Schools.  The Mother Seton Scholarship is a $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year and eligible for renewal) scholarship to Central Catholic High School.  The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible:

  • Student must graduate from a Catholic grade school.
  • CCHS must be the student’s first choice on the High School Placement Test.
  • Incoming freshmen only.

Criteria to renew the scholarship each year is as follows:

  • Student must commit to continue a relationship with their parish and submit a confirmation letter from their pastor.  For returning families, the 2018-2019 form needs to be completed by your pastor and be returned by May 25, 2018 in order to renew the scholarship for the 2018-2019 school year.   • Student must maintain a 2.5 cumulative G.P.A.
  • Student must maintain a good disciplinary record with no D’s or F’s in conduct.

Family Discount

Each family with more than one student at Central Catholic High School is eligible for a $300 annual discount per student, during the years when more than one of the family’s children are enrolled the entire year at CCHS.


Financial Aid

Many of the Central Catholic High School scholarships require families to complete the financial aid application through the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment program. In addition, there is general financial aid available by applying through this method. Those who apply by the January 15, 2018 deadline will receive priority consideration. However, applications will still be accepted throughout the enrollment process.

Financial Aid Appeal

There are times the school’s initial award of financial aid does not meet the needs of some families. Any family who would like to appeal their financial aid award must complete a financial aid appeal.

Prior to an appeal, the family must have already completed the FACTS Financial Aid Application and received a financial aid award letter. In order for you to receive additional financial aid, we may need you to provide supporting documentation and we may also need to meet with you. We will contact you if this is the case.

The following information must be included in your appeal:

  1. Student’s first and last name
  2. Student’s grade for the applicable school year
  3. Name and contact information for financially responsible parent(s) or guardian(s)
  4. Additional amount of financial aid being requested
  5. Explanation of why additional aid is needed and/or extenuating circumstances of which CCHS should be made aware

Please note: An appeal can only be completed one time per student per school year.  Therefore, please be as specific as possible in your correspondence.


Ohio Educational Choice Scholarship

Central Catholic High School accepts the Ohio Educational Choice Scholarship.  The State of Ohio Ed Choice Scholarship is anticipated to remain at $6,000 for the 2018-2019 school year.  More information is available at Ed Choice Scholarship Information.   You can also use the Eligibility Tool provided by School Choice Ohio at School Choice Eligibility Tool.

Financial Aid Frequently Asked Questions

How much will tuition and fees be for the 2018-2019 year?
The rate for the 2018-2019 school year remains as follows:

    • $  300 registration fee.  A late fee of $50.00 will be added to any registration fee not received by the applicable deadline.
    • $8,250 tuition fee
    • $1,200 composite fee

We are committed to providing a quality education to our students while understanding the financial commitment that a Catholic school requires, so our tuition rate continues to be of the greatest value in the Toledo area for Catholic high schools.

What does the composite fee cover?

The composite fee covers: the One-to-One Technology program (i.e., the technology fee), internet access, class and lab fees, ID card, graduation fee, parking passes, regular season home admission for the students to attend athletic events, fundraising fee, art fees, and a yearbook fee.

Are scholarships and financial aid available?
Yes, there are scholarships and financial aid available to help with the tuition charge. We are fortunate to have generous donors that allow us to provide certain academic and financially based scholarships. The scholarship deadline for the 2018-2019 school year is January 15, 2018.

If you would like to apply for financial aid, you must apply through FACTS. This is an on-line application with a $30 fee due to FACTS.  The deadline is January 15, 2018 to receive priority for financial aid consideration, however applications will continue to be accepted throughout the enrollment period.  No applications will be accepted at school.  Please contact the Financial Services Office for any questions on this process or if you need assistance.

What happens after I fill out the FACTS Application form?
It is a common misconception that FACTS awards financial aid. Unfortunately, they do not. Instead, they calculate the family’s estimated need and the school works to provide a financial aid package that will be realistic for the family. Please know that our funds are limited since the school’s funding for financial aid comes from donor support and also from the operational budget of the school. We work very hard to allocate the limited funds available to us in a fair and equitable manner.

Once all the required supporting documentation has been received and the calculation of need has been performed by FACTS, the school will evaluate the estimate from FACTS and provide a financial aid package. The initial notifications of financial aid for returning students will be mailed by February 16, 2018. For those families who applied after the January 15, 2018 deadline, notification will be sent at a later date.

What if my family needs more aid after the first round is awarded?

Central Catholic High School wishes to be able to provide an education to as many students as possible who truly desire to be at the school. While the school offers an extensive financial aid package, there are many times those regular financial aid and payment arrangements do not meet the needs of some families. Families who would like to appeal their financial aid determination may submit an e-mail to financialservices@centralcatholic.org.  For specific instructions, please visit our website at www.centralcatholic.org, under Admissions, then Scholarship and Financial Aid Information.

The family must have already completed the FACTS form and received a financial aid award letter before filling out the appeal form. In order for you to receive additional financial aid, we may need you to provide supporting documentation, and we may also need to meet with you. We will contact you if that is the case.

Do I need to reapply for financial assistance each year?

YES! Since a family’s situation can change from year to year, financial aid is not automatically renewed. Financial aid applications must be submitted for each school year. Certain scholarships, such as the Mother Seton Scholarship, are renewed automatically, provided that the student meets the criteria to renew.

Are there other ways to make the tuition and fees more affordable?
Yes, we offer a limited Financial Credit Program to assist families by allowing them to participate in certain activities for credit toward their tuition or composite fee. You can even start participating in these now to help for future tuition costs! Qualifying activities for the 2018-2019 school year include Kroger Community Rewards, TRIP/SCRIP (on-line only), and a summer work program. Many parishes also award scholarships to qualified applicants. Please contact your parish directly for more information.

When is tuition due?

We operate on a prepaid tuition system, meaning that tuition and the composite fee must be paid by May 25, 2018 for the 2018-2019 year. If you prepay tuition and your student does not attend the school for some reason, your tuition is fully refundable before the start of the school year. Registration fees are non-refundable.

I will not be able to pay the full tuition charge by the deadline of May 25, 2018. What options are available to me?
Families can divide their tuition balance into monthly payments over ten months using the FACTS payment plan. This program automatically withdraws your monthly payment from a checking or savings account. Credit cards are also accepted but there is an additional fee charged by FACTS to use a credit card. If you need to make monthly payments rather than paying in full, you will need to sign up by May 25, 2018, for the FACTS payment plan using the FACTS link. Families who currently have a FACTS agreement with Central Catholic High School do not need to sign up each year. The school will automatically roll over the FACTS agreement for subsequent years.

In addition to the FACTS program, parents can also apply for a loan through www.YourTuitionSolution.com. This company provides longer payment terms for those who need it. You must apply directly with them for consideration.

If you do not sign up for FACTS or pay in full by May 25, 2018, a finance charge of $200 will be added to the account, and the entire balance will be assigned to FACTS for invoicing. After the May 25, 2018 deadline, no payments will be accepted in the Financial Services Office of the school for the 2018-2019 year, and all payments must go through FACTS.
