Freshman Summer Success

Transition
Central Catholic takes great pride in building bridges for students from the minute they begin their high school career. The Transition Course is a tool that provides insight into: grades, time management, high school transcripts, test prep, goal-setting, student involvement, and many other issues that freshmen will encounter when entering high school.

Who should take this course? The Transition Course is mandatory for incoming freshmen with a composite High School Placement Test score of 30 and below, however all incoming freshmen are encouraged to enroll in this course.

The Transition Course will meet six times:
(Session One) August 4, 11, 18, and 25 and September 8 and 15, 2019 from 2:00-2:50 p.m.OR
(Session Two) August 4, 11, 18, and 25 and September 8, 2019 from 3:00-3:50 p.m.
*On September 15, there will only be one class at 2:00 p.m. for both the parents and students.

Math Edge
Math Edge will develop the student’s knowledge of Math fundamentals that are needed to perform at his or her personal best as well as creating a positive attitude about his or her Math experience at Central Catholic High School.

Who should take this course?  Math Edge is mandatory for incoming freshmen with a composite High School Placement Test score of 25 and below, however all incoming freshmen with a score of 26-30 are encouraged to enroll in this course. The enclosed letter will indicate whether your student is required to attend or is invited to attend this course.

The Math Edge Course will meet eight times (two weeks of four days each):
(Session One) June 10-13 and June 17-20, 2019 from 9:00-10:20 a.m. OR
(Session Two) July 15-18 and July 22-25, 2019 from 9:00-10:20 a.m.

English Advantage
English Advantage will improve the student’s skills in English studies.  From reading comprehension, grammar, and writing a college-model paper, students will be exposed to many English tools that will make their academic performance in the English area their absolute best.

Who should take this course? English Advantage is mandatory for incoming freshmen with a composite High School Placement Test score of 25 and below, however all incoming freshmen with a score of 26-30 are encouraged to enroll in this course.  The enclosed letter will indicate whether your student is required to attend or is invited to attend this course.

The English Advantage Course will meet eight times (two weeks of four days each):
(Session One) June 10-13 and June 17-20, 2019 from 10:20-11:50 a.m. OR
(Session Two) July 15-18 and July 22-25, 2019 from 10:20-11:50 a.m.

Each course is $25.00.  Payment can be made on or before the first day of the course.
