4 Central Catholic Runners Advance to Cross Country Regionals

Four members of the Central Catholic High School cross country teams have advanced to the OHSAA Regional Championship following strong performances at the district meet held Saturday at Owens Community College’s Findlay campus.

On the boys’ side, sophomore Peter Bertke led the Fighting Irish with a 27th-place finish in a time of 18:59.66 in the Division III race. Seniors Joel Drees and Eric Mason, Jr. also earned regional berths, placing 57th (21:14.50) and 59th (21:25.31) respectively.

Representing the girls’ team, senior Cassidy Fitzgerald advanced after finishing 71st with a time of 25:58.76 in the Division II race.

The foursome will compete in the OHSAA Regional Championship on Saturday, October 25, at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin. The Division III race is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the Division II race at 1:40 p.m.  Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for students.

Central Catholic is proud of these student-athletes for their dedication, hard work, and success throughout the season and wishes them the best of luck as they continue their postseason journey.
