Alumnus Michael Warren Signs with Detroit Lions

Former Central Catholic gridiron standout Michael Warren (Class of 2017) has signed with the Detroit Lions.

Warren went undrafted out of the University of Cincinnati in 2020, before having stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Football team.

Warren declared for the 2020 NFL Draft following his junior year with the Bearcats. A two-time second-team All-American Athletic Conference honoree, Warren rushed for 2,918 yards and 37 touchdowns in 38 career games at UC. He is the sixth-leading rusher in program history.

Warren tallied 1,265 yards on 261 carries and 14 scores during his final year at Cincinnati, crossing the 100-yard plateau on seven occasions.

A Parade Magazine first-team All-America selection and winner of the Ohio Associated Press “Mr. Football” award as a senior at CCHS in 2016, Warren totaled 7,619 rushing yards and 105 TDs in his storied CCHS career, ranking No. 5 and tied for No. 6 in state history, respectively.

As a senior with the Fighting Irish, Warren finished with 2,740 yards on 306 carries (8.95 average) with 45 touchdowns. A year earlier as a junior, he registered 2,628 yards and 32 TDs.
