Fuller’s Five Touchdowns Power Football Past Brother Rice, 49-27

TOLEDO, OH — The Central Catholic football team celebrated Homecoming with a 49-27 victory over Brother Rice on Friday night at Gallagher Stadium. With the win, the Fighting Irish improve to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the Catholic High School League.

Senior running back Jeremiah Fuller powered the offense, rushing for a career-high 275 yards on 22 carries and matching his career best with five touchdowns. A captain, Fuller scored three times in the first half and added two more touchdowns after intermission.

Sophomore wide receiver Robert Douglas III also made a significant impact, hauling in a pair of touchdown passes from sophomore quarterback Lincoln Sellers. Sellers completed 6-of-12 passes for 157 yards.

Central Catholic will remain at home to host two-time reigning MHSAA Division 2 state champion St. Mary’s Preparatory on Friday, October 16, for Senior Night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gallagher Stadium.

Before kickoff, Central Catholic will recognize 37 seniors representing football, cheer, boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ golf, marching band, and girls’ tennis.

Last fall, the Fighting Irish fell to St. Mary’s Prep, 36-21, at Milewski Field. The Eaglets outscored CCHS, 26-7, in the second half to snap Central Catholic’s four-game winning streak.

One-yard touchdown runs by Fuller and Anthony Sylvester helped the Fighting Irish take a 14-10 lead into halftime. Central Catholic extended its advantage to 21-10 early in the third quarter on an eight-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Ali Beydoun to wide receiver Preston Fryzel.

St. Mary’s Prep answered with 26 consecutive points to secure the victory.

Beydoun completed 11-of-22 passes for 117 yards, while Sylvester rushed for a season-high 129 yards on 18 carries.
