Central Catholic Reveals 2025 Football Schedule

Central Catholic has released its 2025 football schedule, Athletic Director/Head Coach Greg Dempsey (Class of 1990) recently announced.  The Fighting Irish will compete in Division III in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) for the 2nd-straight year and in the Catholic High School League (CHSL) for the 3rd-consecutive year.

Seven of the 10 teams CCHS will battle during the regular season won at least 8 games last fall, including 2 programs that claimed state championships in Michigan.

Highlighting the Scarlet & Gray’s fall slate will be a neutral-site contest against 2024 Division 1 state champion Detroit Cass Tech (August 29, 12-2 record in 2024) as part of the Amazon Prep Kickoff Classic.  In the 20th edition of a matchup between Detroit Public School League (PSL) and CHSL members, the gridiron event will take place at Tom Adams Field on the campus of Wayne State University.  CCHS will square off against the Technicians for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons.  They secured a 48-23 victory vs. CT in the Prep Bowl on October 21, 2023 at Ford Field in downtown Detroit.

Additional highlights to the Fighting Irish’s schedule will be home games vs. Walsh Jesuit (August 22, 13-1), Detroit Catholic Central (September 5, 12-1), and Mona Shores (October 24, 9-2).  CCHS will also entertain De La Salle Collegiate as part of Homecoming Weekend (September 19, 12-1) and rival St. Francis de Sales on “Senior Night” (October 17, 8-4) on Cherry Street.  Central Catholic is currently riding a 26-game home winning streak, dating back to the start of the 2021 campaign.

CCHS will also travel to Brother Rice (September 12, 2-7), River Rouge (September 26, 6-5), rival St. John’s Jesuit (October 3, 1-9), and 2024 Division 2 state champion St. Mary’s Preparatory (October 10, 11-3) during the regular season.

The 53rd annual CHSL Prep Bowl Championship Game will take place on Saturday, October 25 at Ford Field.

Last fall, the Fighting Irish advanced to the OHSAA state championship game for the 3rd straight year.  CCHS posted a 14-2 overall record, including a 5-1 ledger in the CHSL, and made its 21st-straight playoff appearance.  Individually, they featured three 1st-team All-Ohio selections.  That list included senior DB Victor Singleton, Jr., who collected D-III Defensive Player of the Year honors.  Since 2000, CCHS has had 15 players earn 1st-team All-Ohio recognition.
