Football Plays Brother Rice on Friday on Campus of Lawrence Tech University
The Central Catholic football team will look to get back to its winning ways against Catholic High School League foe Brother Rice on Friday, September 12. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Blue Devils Stadium on the campus of Lawrence Tech University.

CCHS, whose first three opponents have a combined record of 7-0, has been picked to finish second in the Central Division in the CHSL in a vote by the league’s head coaches, while the Warriors (1-1) were tabbed to place fifth in the six-team division preseason poll.
Central Catholic (0-3, 0-1 CHSL) is coming off a hard-fought 27-14 setback vs. CHSL preseason favorite Detroit Catholic Central in its league opener. The Scarlet & Gray was outscored 21-0 vs. the Shamrocks (2-0, 1-0 CHSL) in the second half at home.
Senior RB Anthony Sylvester was credited with both TDs for the Fighting Irish, scoring on runs of nine and one yards, respectively. Sylvester finished with a team-high 62 yards on 16 rushes, crossing the goal line for the second-straight game.
Junior QB Ali Beydoun completed 18-of-27 passes for 126 yards. Beydoun’s favorite target was senior WR Preston Fryzel, who hauled in a season-high five catches for 54 yards.
Through the first three games, Beydoun has connected on 41-of-69 passes for 316 yards and two TDs, while junior Jeremiah Fuller has carried the ball 40 times for a squad-best 187 yards with a pair of scores. Sylvester is a close second with 158 yards on the ground on 28 carries with a squad-best three TDs.
Junior WR Amari Eliano and Fryzel share the team lead with nine receptions. Fryzel possesses a team-best 152 yards receiving and Eliano is second with 98 yards.
Brother Rice enter Friday’s contest on the heels of a 35-7 victory vs. the University of Detroit Jesuit.
A season ago, Central Catholic secured a 37-0 victory against the Warriors in Gallagher Stadium.
CCHS did most of its damage on the ground vs. BRHS, posting 201 rushing yards. Sylvester led Central Catholic with 81 yards and two TDs, while RB Tyler Morgan added 49 yards and two TDs, and senior Jerome Davis V had 43 yards with one score. As good as Central Catholic was running the ball, its defense was even better. CCHS held Brother Rice to 64 yards of total offense.
Following Friday’s game, CCHS will host De La Salle Collegiate on Friday, September 19 as part of Homecoming Weekend. The opening kick against the Pilots is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Gallagher Stadium.
Last fall, CCHS steamrolled DLSC, 41-6, at Tom Adams Field on the campus of Wayne State University. The Fighting Irish held the Pilots to less than 300 yards of total offense (135 passing, 161 rushing) and had five explosive plays on defense. Central Catholic was credited with two interceptions, a blocked punt, a blocked extra point, and a fumble recovery to hand DLSC its first setback of the season.
Individually, QB Isaiah Fox completed 9-of-12 passes for 216 yards and three TDs. Two of Fox’s three TD tosses went to Fryzel, who finished with five receptions for a season-high 137 yards. In addition, Morgan posted two scores on the ground to force a running clock for a majority of the second half.
