Five Fighting Irish Earn All-CHSL Honors
Five members of the Central Catholic softball program earned postseason recognition from the Catholic High School League this week, continuing another strong season for the Scarlet & Gray.
Leading the way were senior Makenzie Coleman, sophomore Milla Bragg, and freshman Michelle Byers, who each earned All-Catholic honors.
Coleman has been one of the top offensive players in Northwest Ohio this spring, currently batting .580 with a remarkable .651 on-base percentage. In addition to her success on the field, she was also named to the CHSL All-Academic Team. A member of the prestigious Insignis Society, Coleman ranks among the top 12 academic students in the Class of 2026. She is now a four-time all-conference selection during her career at Central Catholic.
Bragg has continued to make an impact offensively and on the basepaths, batting .385 with a .506 on-base percentage while leading the team with nine stolen bases.
Byers has excelled both in the circle and at the plate during her freshman campaign. The standout pitcher owns an 11-5 record with 115 strikeouts and a 2.60 ERA across 91.2 innings pitched, while also batting .333 offensively.
Two additional Fighting Irish earned All-League recognition, including senior Alexis Rayfield and freshman Savannah Bell.
Rayfield has posted a 4-1 record in the circle with 32 punchouts and a 3.78 ERA in 46.1 innings pitched. She has also contributed offensively with a .353 batting average. Rayfield is now a three-time postseason all-league honoree.
Bell has enjoyed an impressive freshman season, batting .373 with a .443 on-base percentage and five stolen bases.
On Thursday, Central Catholic defeated Woodward, 18-0, in the Division III Sectional Final. The Scarlet & Gray will now face Springfield in the District Semifinal on Thursday, May 21 at 5 p.m. at the Oregon Recreation Center.
