Track & Field Athletes Win State Championship

Five Central Catholic Track & Field student-athletes won state titles during the State Track and Field Competition at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The last time an Irish student-athlete won the state title for track and field was 1998.

Simone Green won the girls long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 9½ inches. She will be attending University of Findlay on a track and field scholarship in the fall. Michael and Matthew Griffin, Dalin Morris, and Jalen Riven won the 4x400m relay finishing with a time of 3:18.86.

Head coach, Dane Sanzenbacher, who completed his first year as head coach, said, “State Champions in track and field come along once in a long while. I can’t overstate how difficult it is to accomplish what these kids accomplished this year. I’m extremely proud of these young men and women, both as a coach and an alumnus.”
