Central Catholic’s Student Success is an enrichment program designed to assist high school students plan for their academic success and pathway to college. From the minute a student begins as a freshman all the way through his or her senior year, Central Catholic provides opportunities to maximize a student’s accomplishments and prepares them for the college admission process.
Junior ACT Preparation
The State mandated ACT will take place on March 12, 2019 for current Central Catholic juniors. Below are times and dates to prepare your student for the ACT.
ACT Booster Class
January 28-31, 2019 or February 4-7, 2019
3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in Central Catholic’s Kress Family Library
This class is designed to enable students to practice each session of the ACT test in a timed environment. Administration of the test is followed by results, instruction, and strategies for each section. Each session will provide students with tools needed to improve their ACT score; please
plan to attend all of the classes in your session.
January 24, 2019 – Information handed out to students
February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 28, 2019 -ACT Prep
Ms. McGhee will be visiting all of the junior English classrooms to provide ACT tutoring in the areas of English and Reading.Curriculum will cover rhetoric and grammar skills that are needed to score well on the ACT. Each session will provide students with tools needed to improve.
Math and Science
Tuesday and Thursdays during your student’s lunch period starting January 29, 2019 and lasting until the March 12 ACT in Central Catholic’s Kress Family Library.
Curriculum will cover mathematical skills that are needed to score well on the ACT. The science curriculum will include intense instruction and focus on the skills necessary for reading and interpreting scientific data with the goal of scoring well on the ACT. Each session will provide students with tools needed to focus on developing better scientific reasoning skills.
*Please note: additional math preparation is available on Sunday’s, 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., starting on February 1, and lasting until March 10 in Central Catholic’s Kress Family Library.
