Baseball Trio Earns All-District Recognition
Three members of the Central Catholic baseball team recently earned All-District honors for their performances during the 2026 season.
Senior Draden Wardrop and senior Jack Zelmanski were named First Team All-District selections, while senior Trent Snapp garnered Second Team All-District honors.
The recognition adds to an impressive postseason for the Fighting Irish. Earlier this spring, Wardrop was named All-Catholic by the Catholic High School League (CHSL) and was later selected Division III Second Team All-Ohio. Zelmanski also received All-League honors from the CHSL.
A catalyst at the top of Central Catholic's lineup, Wardrop led the team in several offensive categories. He batted a team-best .434, collecting 33 hits in 76 at-bats while scoring 20 runs. Wardrop also recorded seven doubles, two triples, and a team-high 22 stolen bases. He finished the season with a .488 on-base percentage and a .618 slugging percentage.
Zelmanski put together a strong senior campaign at the plate. He hit .385 with 25 hits in 65 at-bats, while adding 12 runs scored, two doubles, 12 RBI, and seven stolen bases. Zelmanski also posted a .474 on-base percentage and a .446 slugging percentage.
Snapp excelled as a two-way contributor for the Fighting Irish. At the plate, he batted .271 with 19 hits in 70 at-bats and swiped 17 bases. On the mound, Snapp compiled a 3.74 ERA and recorded 53 strikeouts in 33.2 innings of work.
The trio played instrumental roles for the Fighting Irish during the 2026 season under the direction of head coach Jeff Mielcarek. Competing in one of Ohio's premier baseball conferences, Central Catholic concluded the spring with a 9-19 overall record.
