Boys’ Basketball Defeats Findlay, 80–57, on the Road
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team earned an 80–57 victory over Findlay on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup at the FHS Main Gym. With the win, the Fighting Irish improve to 16–3 on the season.
CCHS broke the game open in the second half, outscoring the host Trojans 49–26 to secure the win. It marked the second time this season the Irish have reached the 80-point mark, following their season-high 81-point performance against Huntington North on December 29.
Senior guard Draden Wardrop led a balanced scoring effort with 19 points, knocking down five three-pointers. Junior guard Cayden Kynard added 18 points, while senior guard Manny Johnson and senior forward Kaeden Carruthers chipped in 17 and 13 points, respectively.
As a team, Central Catholic was perfect from the free-throw line, going 12-for-12.
Findlay was led by Jake Rhoades, who scored a game-high 20 points, while Blade Wendt added 10.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team fell 40–37, and the junior varsity squad dropped a 45–28 decision.
The Fighting Irish return to action on Friday, February 20, when they host rival St. Francis de Sales. The freshman game tips off at 4:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center, followed by the junior varsity and varsity contests. In the previous meeting on January 13, Central Catholic defeated the Knights, 63–51, behind a season-high 21 points from junior guard Jordan Langford.
