Boys’ Basketball Falls to Lima Senior, 62–58, in Non-Conference Matchup

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday, dropping a 62–58 decision to Lima Senior in the Sullivan Center. With the non-conference loss, the Fighting Irish move to 5–2 on the season.

After a tightly contested first half, Central Catholic was outscored 34–25 in the second half, allowing the visiting Spartans to pull away late. The setback marked the Fighting Irish’s first loss since the season opener.

Junior G Cayden Kynard paced the Scarlet & Gray with 16 points, while senior F Kaeden Carruthers added a season-high 15 points. Senior F Kingston Sito and junior G Jason Lawson, Jr. each contributed seven points in the effort.

Lima Senior (7–1) relied on a balanced offensive attack, placing four players in double figures. Amari Addy led all scorers with 19 points, followed by Shawn Foster (17), Noah Simpson (13), and Willie Foster (12).

Earlier in the evening, the Central Catholic junior varsity squad registered a 48-35 victory vs. the Spartans at home.

Central Catholic returns to action on Friday, January 9, when the Fighting Irish travel to St. Mary’s Preparatory School for a key Catholic High School League (CHSL) matchup. The freshman game tips off at 4 p.m. in the Dombrowski Fieldhouse, followed immediately by the junior varsity and varsity contests.
