Girls’ Basketball Nips Lumen Christi Catholic, 47–44, in CHSL Action
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team extended its winning streak to four games on Wednesday evening, edging Lumen Christi Catholic, 47–44, in a hard-fought CHSL matchup inside the Sullivan Center. With the one-possession victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 7–5 overall and 1–2 in Catholic High School League (CHSL) play.
Senior G Marissa Justen led the Scarlet & Gray with a season-high 17 points. The team captain connected on a game-best three three-point field goals, providing key offense throughout the contest.
Senior G Serinity Bolden added 11 points, while junior G Madison Stricker and junior C Ava Jones chipped in six points apiece.
Lumen Christi Catholic was paced by Kenna Hunt, who scored a game-high 19 points, while Lucy Wrozek finished with 13 points for the Titans.
Earlier in the evening, the Central Catholic junior varsity squad earned a thrilling 45–43 double-overtime victory over Lumen Christi Catholic.
The Fighting Irish return to action on Monday, January 12, when they travel to face St. Ursula Academy at the SUA Field House. The junior varsity contest will tip off at 5 p.m., followed immediately by the varsity game. Click HERE to purchase tickets.
