Central Catholic Edges St. Mary’s Preparatory in CHSL Road Victory, 45–42

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team bounced back Friday night, earning a hard-fought 45–42 victory over St. Mary’s Preparatory in Catholic High School League action at the Dombrowski Fieldhouse. With the road win, the Fighting Irish improve to 6–2 overall and 3–1 in the CHSL.

CCHS delivered when it mattered most, outscoring the Eaglets 13–7 in the fourth quarter to secure the three-point victory in Orchard Lake Village.

Senior G Manny Johnson led a balanced Fighting Irish scoring effort with 10 points, while junior G Jordan Langford added nine. Junior G Jason Lawson Jr. chipped in eight points, senior F Kaeden Carruthers scored seven, and junior G Cayden Kynard contributed six to round out the offensive production.

St. Mary’s Preparatory was led by Elijah Hines, who finished with a game-high 21 points, while Bela Matyus Jr. added 11.

Earlier in the evening, the Central Catholic freshman squad earned a 39–18 road victory, and the junior varsity squad posted a 50–36 win.

Central Catholic returns to action on Tuesday, January 13, traveling to archrival St. Francis de Sales for a key CHSL matchup.
