Girls’ Basketball Downs Rival St. Ursula Academy for Fifth Straight Win, 55–45

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team continued its impressive run on Monday, earning its fifth consecutive victory with a 55–45 road win over rival St. Ursula Academy in the SUA Field House.  With the win, the Fighting Irish improve to 8–5 overall and 2–2 in Catholic High School League (CHSL) play.

After trailing 27–23 at halftime, CCHS seized control with a dominant 17–4 third-quarter surge.  Senior G Nina Stevens sparked the decisive run, scoring 12 of her game-high 22 points in the third period to fuel the Irish rally.

Junior G Madison Stricker added 11 points, while senior G Serinity Bolden finished with 10 points as Central Catholic pulled away in the second half.

St. Ursula Academy was led by Allie Williams, who scored 22 points, with Jazlyn Huntley contributing 12 for the Arrows.

Earlier in the evening, the Central Catholic junior varsity squad picked up a 37–29 road victory over St. Ursula Academy.

The Fighting Irish return to the hardwood on Thursday, January 15, when they host Father Gabriel Richard in the Sullivan Center.  The junior varsity game will tip off at 5 p.m., followed immediately by the varsity contest.  Central Catholic previously dropped a 33–26 decision to the Irish on December 12 in Ann Arbor.  Thursday’s varsity matchup will be broadcast LIVE on 100.7 FM (The Ticket) beginning at 6:15 p.m.  Click HERE to purchase tickets.
