Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, 8 All-District 7 Honorees

Eight members of the Central Catholic boys’ basketball team have earned Division III All-District 7 recognition, as selected by the district’s head coaches.

Leading the way was senior Manny Johnson, who was named the D-III All-District 7 Player of the Year.  Johnson earns All-District honors for the third consecutive season, further cementing his place among the area’s elite performers.

Joining Johnson on the First Team were senior Kaeden Carruthers and junior Cayden Kynard, while junior Jordan Langford earned Second Team honors.  Junior Jason Lawson, Jr. was selected as an Honorable Mention recipient.

In addition, seniors Draden Wardrop and Kevon Harrison were recognized on the D-III All-Academic Team, highlighting the program’s commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.

Carruthers and Kynard each collected All-District honors for the second straight year — a testament to their consistency, leadership, and impact in the Scarlet & Gray.

Head Coach Mike Floyd was also named the D-III All-District 7 Coach of the Year, recognizing the team’s continued success under his leadership.

The top-seeded Fighting Irish return to action tonight in the OHSAA Division III Sectional Finals, hosting No. 10 seed Fremont Ross at 7 p.m. in the Sullivan Center. Live radio coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on 100.7 FM The Ticket.  Postseason tickets must be purchased online at ohsaa.org/tickets.
