Boys’ Basketball Races Past Fremont Ross in Sectional Final, 72–49
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team opened postseason play in dominant fashion, defeating No. 10 seed Fremont Ross, 72–49, in the Division III OHSAA State Tournament sectional final Friday in the Sullivan Center. With the win, the top-seeded Fighting Irish improve to 19–3 on the season.
CCHS wasted no time setting the tone, racing out to a 28–12 lead after the first quarter and maintaining control the rest of the way.
Senior guard Draden Wardrop led the Scarlet & Gray with a season-high 26 points, knocking down four three-pointers. Junior Cayden Kynard added 16 points, while senior guard Manny Johnson finished with 13 and senior forward Kaeden Carruthers contributed 11.
Fremont Ross was paced by Jake Cahill, who scored 16 points.
Central Catholic advances to face No. 5 seed Tiffin Columbian on Thursday, March 5 at 8 p.m. at Ontario High School.
