Boys’ Basketball Pulls Away from Spencerville at Coach Q Classic, 74–49
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team continued its strong play Saturday, rolling to a 74–49 victory over Spencerville at the Coach Q Classic on the campus of Lima Senior High School. With the neutral-site win, the Fighting Irish extend their winning streak to three games and improve to 3–1 on the season.
After trailing by eight at halftime, Central Catholic seized control with a dominant 25–2 third quarter, flipping the momentum and building a 15-point lead entering the final period.
Junior G Cayden Kynard led all scorers with 26 points, surpassing the 20-point mark for the second time this season. The Fighting Irish also received strong contributions from senior G Manny Johnson (17 points, 8 rebounds), junior G Jason Lawson, Jr. (career-high 13 points, 8 rebounds), and senior F Kaeden Carruthers (8 points, team-high 10 rebounds).
Spencerville (6-2) was led by Will Sensabaugh with 16 points, while Owen Sensabaugh added 13 for the Bearcats.
Earlier in the day, the Central Catholic junior varsity squad earned an impressive 76–25 victory over Spencerville.
