Boys’ Basketball Earns Impressive Win Over Unbeaten Huntington North, 81–51

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team delivered a complete performance on Monday, earning an 81–51 victory over previously unbeaten Huntington North as part of the Holiday Hoops Showcase at North Arena. With the road win, the Fighting Irish extend their winning streak to four games and improve to 4–1 on the season.

Central Catholic set the tone early, scoring at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters and eclipsing the 80-point mark for the first time this season. The Fighting Irish knocked down a season-high 10 three-pointers and received scoring contributions from 11 different players, highlighting the team’s balanced attack.

Junior G Cayden Kynard paced the Fighting Irish with 25 points, while senior G Manny Johnson followed with 20 points, along with five assists and five steals.  Kynard and Johnson each connected on three shots from beyond the arc to lead the offense. Junior G Jordan Langford added eight points, and junior G/F Jason Lawson, Jr. contributed six.

Huntington North (5–1) was led by Dalton Husband with 14 points, while Titus Schultz and Blaine Freiburger chipped in 10 points apiece.

Central Catholic returns to action on Friday, January 2, when the Fighting Irish face Liberty Center in a non-conference matchup at Liberty Center High School.  The freshman game tips off at 2:30 p.m., followed by the junior varsity and varsity contests.
