Boys’ Basketball Pummels University of Detroit Jesuit on Road, 73-50

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team used a balanced offensive attack to earn a convincing 73–50 road victory over University of Detroit on Wednesday in the UDJ Main Gym.  With the 23-point win, the Fighting Irish extended their winning streak to five games and improved to 11–2 overall and 5–1 in the Catholic High School League.

Senior guard Manny Johnson led the way with a game-high 17 points, while senior guard Draden Wardrop added 13 points.  Senior forward Kaeden Carruthers chipped in 11 points, and junior guard Cayden Kynard finished with 10 points, giving the Irish four players in double figures.

Junior guard Jason Lawson, Jr. contributed eight points, and senior forward Kingston Sito added six as Central Catholic showcased its depth throughout the night.

The Scarlet & Gray jumped out to an early lead behind balanced scoring and defensive pressure, building a commanding 37–15 advantage at halftime and never allowing the host Cubs to threaten in the second half.
