Boys’ Basketball Quintet Earn All-CHSL Laurels

Five members of the Central Catholic boys’ basketball team have earned All-CHSL recognition, the Catholic High School League recently announced.

Senior Manny Johnson and junior Cayden Kynard were named to the All-Catholic Team, while senior Kaeden Carruthers and junior Jordan Langford received All-League honors.  Senior Kevon Harrison was selected to the All-Academic Team.

Manny Johnson (All-Catholic)
Johnson earns all-conference recognition for the third consecutive season, adding to his All-Catholic honor last year and All-League distinction as a sophomore.  He is averaging 13.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 2.8 steals per game while shooting 49.4% from the field.  Johnson has scored in double figures 15 times, including three 20-point performances, highlighted by a season-high 25 points against St. John’s Jesuit on December 23.

Cayden Kynard (All-Catholic)
Kynard leads the team with 16.3 points per game while adding 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists.  He is shooting 41.9% from the field and 81.3% from the free throw line. Kynard has reached double figures 18 times, including five 20-point outings, and poured in a season-high 29 points against Brother Rice on December 19.

Kaeden Carruthers (All-League)
Carruthers is averaging 9.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting an efficient 65.6% from the field.  He has recorded five double-doubles this season and scored in double figures nine times, including a 16-point effort against Perrysburg on January 20.

Jordan Langford (All-League)
Langford is averaging 6.6 points per game and shooting 59.5% from the field, including 58.9% from three-point range.  He has four double-digit performances this season, highlighted by a 21-point effort against St. Francis de Sales on January 13.

Kevon Harrison (All-Academic)
Harrison, a member of the National Honor Society, has contributed valuable minutes this season and represents the program’s commitment to excellence both on the court and in the classroom.

Head Coach Mike Floyd and the Fighting Irish now turn their attention to the OHSAA Division III State Tournament. The Scarlet & Gray earned the No. 1 seed in Region 10 (University of Toledo) in the Northwest 1 Sectional/District and will host the winner of No. 8 Scott vs. No. 10 Fremont Ross on Friday, February 27 at 7 p.m. in the Sullivan Center.
