Girls’ Basketball Advances to District Finals with 46-31 Win Over Rogers
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team defeated No. 3 seed Rogers, 46-31, on Tuesday in the Division III OHSAA District Semifinals at Northwood High School. With the neutral-site victory, the top-seeded Fighting Irish improve to 15-8 on the season.
After a tightly contested first half, Central Catholic created separation in the final two quarters, outscoring the Rams 26-16 to secure a second consecutive trip to the district finals under second-year Head Coach Clifton Hodges.
Senior guard Nina Stevens led the way with a game-high 16 points. Fellow seniors Marissa Justen and Serinity Bolden each added 10 points in the victory over the two-time state champion Rams.
Rogers was paced by Rickayla Davis with 12 points, while Myaat Woodley contributed 10.
The Fighting Irish will return to action on Saturday, February 28, against No. 4 seed Mansfield Madison Comprehensive in the district finals at Buckeye Central High School.
