Boys’ Basketball Rolls Past Rival St. Francis de Sales at Home, 63–39

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team earned a decisive 63–39 victory over rival St. Francis de Sales on Friday night in the Sullivan Center. With the non-league win, the Fighting Irish improve to 17–3 on the season.

CCHS used a balanced offensive attack to complete the season sweep of the Knights (12–9). In the first meeting on January 13, the Irish claimed a 63–51 victory.

Senior guard Manny Johnson led the Scarlet & Gray with 15 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Cayden Kynard added 13 points, while senior guard Draden Wardrop finished with 11. Senior forward Kaeden Carruthers contributed nine points and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

The Knights were paced by Alan Horton, who scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Horton was the only SFDS player to score more than four points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team secured a 50-28 victory vs. St. Francis de Sales, while the junior varsity squad suffered a 56-46 home loss.

The Fighting Irish return to action today against Start in their regular-season finale. The freshman game tips off at 1 p.m. in the Roy C. Start High School Main Gym, followed by the junior varsity and varsity contests.
