CCHS (4-3, 3-1 CHSL) is currently tied for 2nd place in the Central Division in the CHSL with OLSM (4-1, 3-1 CHSL), 1 game behind frontrunner Detroit Catholic Central (6-0, 3-0 CHSL). Regardless of Friday’s outcome, DCC has clinched the Central Division title and will play in the LIII CHSL Prep Bowl on Saturday, October 25 at Ford Field in downtown Detroit.
Central Catholic is coming off a dominating 42-7 triumph vs. rival St. John’s Jesuit at Lyden Field.
CCHS took advantage of a season-high 152 yards rushing and 3 TDs by junior RB Jeremiah Fuller to collect its 11th straight win against the Titans (4-3, 1-2 CHSL). Fuller topped the century mark for the 3rd time this fall, finding the end zone on scoring runs of 16, 18, and 2 yards.
Central Catholic also benefited from TD passes by junior QB Ali Beydoun to senior WRs Preston Fryzel and Jerome Davis V, along with a 54-yard scoop and score by senior DB Victor Singleton, Jr. following a blocked field-goal attempt, prompting a running clock in the 2nd half. Singleton has now blocked a kick and returned it for a score on 2 occasions in 2025, with the other coming against Brother Rice on September 12.
Beydoun finished a perfect 5-of-5 for 126 yards and 2 TDs throwing the ball, helping CCHS halt SJJ’s 3-game winning streak.
Overall this fall, Beydoun has connected on 65-of-107 passes (60.8 percent) for 889 yards and 7 TDs. Fuller has carried the ball 104 times for 569 yards with 7 scores. Beydoun’s favorite target has been Fryzel with 15 receptions for 340 yards and 2 TDs.
OLSM enters Friday’s action on the heels of a 49-0 win vs. Detroit Country Day to post its 2nd straight shutout. The Eaglets have tallied at least 40 points in all but 1 of their games this fall.
In 2024, Central Catholic secured a narrow 7-6 victory against OLSM at home. CCHS QB Isaiah Fox connected with senior WR Sharard Vaughn III on a 4-yard TD reception with 59 seconds left in regulation to give the Fighting Irish their 1st points of the game.
Following a 15-yard penalty, senior PK Blake Moody successfully booted the extra point for the game-winning tally.
The last-minute score was setup after an interception by LB/TE Dominic Spinazze II, as OLSM was trying to run out the clock.
The Eaglets had 1 final possession to win the conference matchup in the waning seconds, but CCHS responded with consecutive sacks from LB Michael Besteda and junior LB Antonio Elizondo, as well as a game-sealing interception from DB Dantoni Callaway to close out the 1-point home triumph.
CCHS will return to action against arch-rival St. Francis de Sales on Friday, October 17. The opening kick vs. the Knights is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gallagher Stadium.
Prior to kickoff vs. SFDS, Central Catholic will honor 53 seniors from the fall sports of football, cheer, boys’ & girls’ cross country, boys’ golf, marching band, and girls’ tennis.
Last fall, Central Catholic defeated St. Francis de Sales, 28-7, at the Glass Bowl Stadium on the campus of the University of Toledo. The Fighting Irish scored 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter to pull away from the Knights, helping them secure their 23rd-straight win in the series. The Fighting Irish was also aided by 2 interceptions in the final 12 minutes, as they successfully retained the coveted Irish-Knight Trophy. CCHS has not lost to its rival since 2003.
