Get to Know CCHS Staffulty Member - Justin Schiets ‘19

- What subjects and grade levels do you teach?
I teach General Business, Personal Money Management, Accounting, and Marketing across all grades.  I also coach football and baseball at CCHS.

- What is your educational background?
I attended Bowling Green State University, where I signed to play football for the Falcons for four seasons under Scot Loeffler.  I earned my Bachelor of Science in business administration, focusing on management.  I graduated Cum Laude in April of 2023.

After BGSU, I furthered my academic and athletic career in football at Northern Michigan University in the Upper Peninsula and earned a Master’s in Business Administration, focusing on data analytics.  I competed for Northern Michigan for two seasons, completing my MBA in a year and a half, finishing in December of 2024.

- What did you do before joining the CCHS staffulty?
I worked for the Toledo Mud Hens as the assistant to the facilities manager, did golf course maintenance at NMU Golf Course, and aided in the recruiting and assessment of talent at both BGSU and NMU for the football teams.

- What made you want to teach at Central Catholic?
I wanted to come back to teach at Central Catholic because of the experience the school gave me.  I just want to carry on the tradition of Irish pride.

What were you involved in when you were a student at CCHS?
I was a three-year varsity letterwinner for football and baseball, all-state linebacker as a senior, all-district in baseball, and senior captain for both teams.  I was also a member of the National Honor Society, participated in Stations of the Cross, was a  KAIROS retreat leader, and I volunteered at youth football and baseball camps run by the athletic department.

- What do you hope your impact will be on our students?
I want to give my students valuable life skills and an understanding that everything is a business and to think of everything in a grand scheme.

- What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I like to spend free time with my family and my black lab puppy, Layla Jo.  I also enjoy being at the lake, paddleboarding, and playing spikeball.
