Central Catholic Competes at CHSL Championship

The Central Catholic wrestling team placed fourth at the Catholic High School League Championship on Saturday on the campus of Lumen Christi High School.

Individually, the Fighting Irish had five wrestlers finish in the Top 4 at the one-day event.

Leading the way were third place finishes from junior Andrei Irimia (175 pounds), junior Alex Guerra (138 pounds), and freshman Giovanni Aranda (120 pounds).

In addition, junior Chris Sanders, Jr. (285 pounds) and sophomore Devin Joyner (190 pounds) each earned fourth place finishes in their respective weight classes.

In other mat action this past weekend, sophomore Sophia Swanson captured the 115-pound championship at the Lady Skins Invitational on Sunday at Port Clinton High School. Swanson posted a perfect 4–0 record at the event, earning her third straight tournament title. She now stands at 25–6 overall this season, including 20 wins by fall.
