Central Catholic Entertains De La Salle Collegiate on Friday as Part of Homecoming Weekend
The Central Catholic football team will entertain De La Salle Collegiate (1-2, 0-1 CHSL) on Friday, September 19 in a Catholic High School League contest as part of Homecoming Weekend. The opening kick against the Pilots is slated for 7 p.m. in Gallagher Stadium.
The Top 6 finalists for Homecoming Queen are Isabella Acevedo, Lauren Bishop, Toryn Brookens, Sabriah Greer, Avery Marsh, and Audrina Randall. The winner will be crowned at halftime of Friday’s matchup.

CCHS (1-3, 1-1 CHSL) is coming off a 28-14 victory vs. Brother Rice at Blue Devils Stadium on the campus of Lawrence Tech University.
The Fighting Irish held the Warriors scoreless in the 2nd half to help them secure their 1st win of the season. Leading the way defensively was senior DL Robert Campbell with a pair of sacks.
In addition, the Scarlet & Gray took advantage of a 75-yard scoop and score by senior DB Victor Singleton, Jr. following a blocked field goal in the 1st half.
Offensively, junior QB Ali Beydoun completed an efficient 9-of-11 passes for 105 yards, including a 2-yard TD pass to junior WR Billy Williams on the final play of the opening half. Williams’ game-winning TD was set up on the heels of a 45-yard completion to senior WR Preston Fryzel.
Junior RB Jeremiah Fuller added a squad-best 105 yards on 19 carries, including a 3-yard TD run in the opening stanza.
Through 4 games, Beydoun has connected on 51-of-81 passes for 419 yards and 3 TDs. Fuller has carried the ball 59 times for 292 yards with 3 scores, followed by senior Anthony Sylvester with 180 yards on 33 carries and 3 TDs. Beydoun’s favorite targets have been Fryzel (11 receptions for 201 yards) and junior WR Amari Eliano (10 catches for 99 yards).
DLSC, which was picked 4th in the CHSL Central Division Preseason Coaches’ Poll, most recently suffered a 49-10 loss vs. St. Mary’s Preparatory at home.
CCHS and De La Salle Collegiate will square off on the gridiron for the 3rd-straight fall. A season ago, Central Catholic steamrolled DLSC, 41-6, at Tom Adams Field on the campus of Wayne State University. The Fighting Irish held the Pilots to less than 300 yards of total offense (135 passing, 161 rushing) and had 5 explosive plays on defense. Central Catholic was credited with two interceptions, a blocked punt, a blocked extra point, and a fumble recovery to hand DLSC its first setback of the season.
Individually, QB Isaiah Fox completed 9-of-12 passes for 216 yards and 3 TDs. Two of Fox’s 3 TD tosses went to Fryzel, who finished with 5 receptions for 137 yards. In addition, RB Tyler Morgan posted 2 scores on the ground to force a running clock for a majority of the 2nd half.
Following this weekend’s action, CCHS will return to the field against River Rouge on Friday, September 26. The opening kick against the Panthers is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Panthers Stadium. The 2 teams will meet on the field for the 1st time.
