Central Catholic to Hold Colton Strong Kids Night at February 2 & 3 Basketball Games
Central Catholic High School will hold Colton Strong Kids Night at the girls’ basketball game vs. St. Ursula Academy on Monday, February 2, and at the boys’ basketball game vs. Clay High School on Tuesday, February 3. The varsity games are scheduled for 6:30 on Monday and 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday in the Sullivan Center.
The Stanley family created Colton Strong Kids in June of 2024, an organization to support area children who are fighting pediatric cancer. At the basketball games, the Stanley family, along with students from Central Catholic’s Sideline Spirit group, will be selling raffle tickets for $2 each to win several prize baskets.
The raffle baskets have been donated by Central Catholic’s staffulty, and they include themes like CCHS swag, lottery tickets, Toledo items, baking, golf, kids’ fun, hydration, fast food and candy, and spa day. They will also hold a 50/50 raffle and collect gift cards for Amazon, DoorDash, Kroger and other grocery stores, gas cards, and monetary donations for the organization.
Colton Strong Kids is dedicated to being a beacon of hope and strength for families navigating the challenging journey of childhood cancer. Its mission is to alleviate the financial burdens that accompany a cancer diagnosis, allowing families to focus on what truly matters - caring for their children. Colton Strong Kids provides comprehensive grants, programs, and assistance initiatives to offer the necessary support to help families navigate this difficult period with resilience and optimism.
Colton Stanley is the son of former Central Catholic teacher and head girls’ basketball coach, Corri (Helldobler) Stanley, Class of 2003. He was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma just weeks after his 4th birthday. In November, Colton rang the bell marking the end of his cancer treatment.
“Central Catholic is thrilled to expand our efforts to support Colton Strong Kids by dedicating the basketball games on February 2 and 3 to the organization we adore,” said Mallory Lenhart, CCHS social studies teacher and Sideline Spirit moderator. “This year's event is even sweeter as we celebrate the end of Colton's treatment! Though the Stanleys have conquered their fight, there are still many other families who benefit from the care and hope that Colton Strong Kids provides. The Stanley family is an inspiration to all of us, and we hope that the strong communities of Central Catholic, St. Ursula, and Clay High School feel compelled to donate gift cards and purchase raffle and 50/50 tickets to show their love to the families that continue to bravely battle pediatric cancer.”
