Girls’ Basketball Falls at Lumen Christi Catholic on Road, 50-40
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team saw its five-game winning streak come to an end Wednesday night, dropping a 50–40 road decision to Lumen Christi Catholic inside the LCC Gym. With the loss, the Fighting Irish move to 8–6 overall and 2–3 in Catholic High School League play.
Central Catholic trailed by two at halftime and was outscored 28–20 in the second half by the Titans, suffering its first setback since December 20.
Senior G Serinity Bolden led the Scarlet & Gray with 11 points, while senior G Marissa Justen added eight points and sophomore F Kalyse Mays chipped in seven.
Lumen Christi Catholic was paced by Kenna Hunt, who finished with a game-high 13 points, followed by Paige Lefere with 11. The duo proved decisive in the second half, combining for 16 of the Titans’ 28 points to secure the home victory.
Earlier in the evening, the Central Catholic junior varsity team dropped a 39–17 decision on the road.
The Fighting Irish return to action Saturday, January 24, traveling to Delta. The junior varsity game tips off at 1 p.m., followed immediately by the varsity contest. Saturday’s varsity game will be broadcast LIVE on 100.7 FM The Ticket, with coverage beginning at 2:15 p.m.
