Boys’ Basketball Ousts Perrysburg in Non-League Showdown, 56-49
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team continued its strong play Tuesday night, earning a 56–49 non-conference victory over Perrysburg inside the Sullivan Center. With the win, the Fighting Irish extended their winning streak to four straight games and improved to 10–2 on the season.
Central Catholic set the tone early against the talented Yellow Jackets, building a commanding 30–17 halftime advantage behind sharp execution on both ends of the floor.
Senior F Kaeden Carruthers and junior G Cayden Kynard led the Fighting Irish attack, each finishing with 16 points. Senior G Draden Wardrop also provided a key lift off the bench scoring eight points in his return after missing much of the season due to injury.
Perrysburg (10–4) was paced by Ben Pamer, who scored 14 points, while Adam Gray and Tyson Bower added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Earlier in the evening, the Central Catholic freshman team opened the night with a 57–32 victory over the Yellow Jackets, while the junior varsity squad dropped a 50–35 decision.
The Fighting Irish return to action Friday, January 23, when they travel to face University of Detroit Jesuit in Catholic High School League play. The freshman contest tips off at 4 p.m. in the UDJ Main Gym, followed immediately by junior varsity and varsity games.
