Football Entertains Brother Rice as Part of Homecoming Weekend on Friday
TOLEDO, OH - The Central Catholic football team returns home for the first time in three weeks when the Fighting Irish entertain Brother Rice (5-1, 2-1 CHSL) on Friday, October 9 in a Catholic High School League contest as part of Homecoming Weekend. Kickoff against the Warriors is slated for 7:05 p.m. in Gallagher Stadium.
Friday’s matchup has also been selected as the BCSN Game of the Week and will feature the BCSN GameDay Tailgate prior to kickoff.
The finalists for the 2026 Homecoming Queen are Gia Delgado, Hope Johnson, Sherlyn Ramirez-Guzman, Layla Laytart, and Madison Stricker. The Homecoming Queen will be announced at halftime of Friday’s CHSL matchup.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at CentralCatholic.org/tickets.
Online student ticket sales close at noon on Friday.
Students MUST present a valid school ID. Admission is limited to Central Catholic students and students of Brother Rice.
All other guests age 5 to 17 MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
All ticket sales close at 7:30 p.m.
Re-entry into Gallagher Stadium is not permitted.
No entry will be permitted after the start of the second half.
Central Catholic will also hold its annual Homecoming Parade starting at 6 p.m. and Irish Drive will be closed for a short time for the on-campus parade. For anyone tailgating or dropping off in the Gallagher Stadium parking lot, please arrive before 6 p.m. or after the parade ends at approximately 6:30 to access the parking lot entrance and tailgate spots.
Fans unable to attend Friday’s contest can listen LIVE on 100.7 FM The Ticket. “Voice of the Irish” Bill Clark, Bill Boyle, and Jackson Stricker will take to the air beginning at 6 p.m. The game can also be streamed online HERE.
Central Catholic (5-2, 2-1 CHSL) enters Friday tied with Brother Rice for third place in the CHSL Central Division, trailing St. Mary’s Preparatory (5-1, 4-0 CHSL) and Detroit Catholic Central (6-0, 3-0 CHSL).
The Fighting Irish will look to bounce back following a 31-12 setback against DCC on Saturday afternoon at Fr. Richard Elmer, C.S.B. Stadium.
Sophomore quarterback Lincoln Sellers led the Scarlet & Gray offense against the Shamrocks, completing 19-of-32 passes for a season-high 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Sellers connected with junior wide receiver David Yharbrough for a 49-yard touchdown before finding senior wide receiver Amari Eliano for a 52-yard scoring strike.
Yharbrough established season highs with seven receptions and 96 receiving yards and has now caught a touchdown pass in two of the Fighting Irish’s last three contests.
Senior running back Jeremiah Fuller paced the Central Catholic ground attack with a team-high 72 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Through seven games, Fuller leads the Fighting Irish rushing attack with 757 yards on 106 carries, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt, while reaching the end zone 19 times. Sellers has completed 49-of-88 passes (55.7 percent) for 975 yards and eight touchdowns and has thrown for at least 200 yards in each of his last three contests.
Central Catholic also features a talented trio of receivers. Yharbrough leads the way with 20 receptions for 387 yards, followed by Eliano with 17 catches for 352 yards and sophomore Robert Douglas III with 16 receptions for 338 yards.
The Fighting Irish will face a Brother Rice squad coming off a 46-19 victory over St. Francis de Sales (1-6, 0-3 CHSL). The Warriors are led by head coach Aaron Marshall.
Central Catholic defeated Brother Rice, 28-14, last fall at Blue Devils Stadium on the campus of Lawrence Technological University. The Fighting Irish held the Warriors scoreless in the second half to secure their first victory of the season.
Defensively, Robert Campbell led the way with two sacks, while Victor Singleton Jr. provided one of the game’s biggest plays with a 75-yard scoop-and-score following a blocked field goal in the first half.
On offense, quarterback Ali Beydoun completed 9-of-11 passes for 105 yards, including a two-yard touchdown pass to Billy Williams on the final play of the opening half. Fuller added a team-high 96 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Following Friday’s Homecoming matchup, Central Catholic will remain at home to host two-time reigning MHSAA Division 2 State Champion St. Mary’s Preparatory on Friday, October 16, as part of Senior Night on Cherry Street. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gallagher Stadium.
Prior to kick off against the Eaglets, Central Catholic will recognize 37 seniors representing the fall sports and activities of football, cheer, boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ golf, marching band, and girls’ tennis.
