Girls’ Basketball Comes Up Short vs. Rival Notre Academy in Home Opener, 46-42

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball program turned in a hard-fought effort on Wednesday night, falling 46–42 to rival Notre Dame Academy inside the Sullivan Center.  The Fighting Irish now stand 1–1 early in the season, 0-1 in the Catholic High School League.

Senior Nina Stevens and junior Ava Jones led the way with 13 points each, while senior captain Serinity Bolden added 10 points for the Scarlet & Gray.

The Eagles’ Kallie Thames recorded a game-high 18 points, while teammate Laila Brenneman added 11. The duo combined for 18 of Notre Dame Academy’s 24 second-half points, helping the Eagles secure the victory over the Fighting Irish.

The CCHS freshman team dropped a 28–17 decision, while the junior varsity earned a 31–23 victory to open the evening.

The Fighting Irish now refocus and prepare for a non-conference matchup vs. Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday, December 6 at OGHS Gymnasium.  The junior varsity game will begin at 11 a.m., with varsity contest to follow.  Tickets for Saturday’s competition can be purchased by clicking HERE.
