Girls’ Basketball Falls to Notre Dame Academy in Regular-Season Finale, 48–38

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team dropped a 48–38 decision to Notre Dame Academy on Wednesday in the LaValley Gymnasium on Savage Court.  With the loss in its regular-season finale, CCHS falls to 13–7 overall and 4–4 in the Catholic High School League.

The Fighting Irish were outscored 33–23 by the Eagles (11–9, 5–3 CHSL) in the second half, suffering just their second loss in the last 12 games.

The setback also dropped Central Catholic to third place in the Central (East) Division standings and eliminated the Irish from the CHSL Bishop Championship Tournament.

Senior guard Marissa Justen paced the Scarlet & Gray with 20 points, knocking down five three-pointers.  Justen, who scored in double figures for the fifth straight game, reached the 20-point mark for the second time this season.

Junior guard Madison Stricker added 11 points for the Fighting Irish.

For Notre Dame, Kallie Thames led the way with 18 points, followed by Rakeyla Gant with 10.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team suffered a 20–14 loss to NDA, while the junior varsity squad dropped a 43–26 contest on the road.
