Girls’ Basketball Falls to Unioto in Division III Regional Semifinal, 56-42

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team saw its season come to an end Thursday with a 56–42 loss to Unioto in the OHSAA Division III Regional Semifinal at Alumni Hall on the campus of Ohio Dominican University. With the neutral-court loss, the Fighting Irish conclude the season with a 16–9 record.

Senior guard Nina Stevens led Central Catholic with 17 points, while senior guard Marissa Justen added 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Justen accounted for all of her scoring from beyond the arc, knocking down four three-pointers.

As a team, CCHS shot 28.8 percent (17-of-59) from the field, including 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from three-point range, and 30.0 percent (3-of-10) from the free-throw line. The Fighting Irish also recorded 33 rebounds and eight steals.

Unioto (24–2) was led by Milee Smith, who finished with a game-high 22 points, while Keyairah Beard added 13 points.

Thursday’s contest marked the final game in the Scarlet & Gray for seniors Serinity Bolden, Marissa Justen, Kyra Melvin, and Nina Stevens, who helped lead Central Catholic to its first district championship since 2021-22.
