Girls’ Basketball Opens Season with Thrilling Overtime Victory vs. Genoa Area, 51-50

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team launched its 2025-26 campaign in dramatic fashion, earning a 51–50 overtime win on the road against Genoa Area on Tuesday.

Senior captain Serinity Bolden and junior Ava Jones led the Fighting Irish with 10 points each, while juniors Madison Stricker and Camilla Sanchez added 8 points apiece to help secure the season-opening victory.

Genoa’s Addisyn Moritz posted a game-high 15 points, followed by teammate Lucy Schlageter with 13.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS junior varsity squad also picked up a hard-fought 31–29 win over the Comets.

Central Catholic now shifts its focus to a marquee CHSL matchup with rival Notre Dame Academy on Wednesday, December 3 in the Sullivan Center.  The freshman game will begin at 4:15 p.m., with junior varsity and varsity contests to follow.  Tickets for Wednesday’s CHSL matchup can be purchased by clicking HERE.
