Girls’ Basketball Pulls Away from Crosstown Rival Whitmer, 37–27
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team earned a 37–27 victory over crosstown rival Whitmer on Saturday afternoon in the Sullivan Center. With the home win, the Fighting Irish improve to 9–5 on the season and extend their winning streak to six consecutive games.
CCHS took control down the stretch, outscoring the Panthers 14–6 in the pivotal fourth quarter to secure the non-league victory. Senior G Serinity Bolden led the charge, scoring eight of her game-high 17 points in the final period to spark the late surge.
Whitmer was led by Olivia Welch, who finished with 10 points.
Earlier in the day, the Central Catholic freshman team fell 31–10, while the junior varsity squad earned a 26–14 home victory over the Panthers.
Central Catholic returns to action on Wednesday, January 21, traveling to Lumen Christi Catholic. The junior varsity game tips off at 5:00 p.m., followed immediately by the varsity matchup.
