Girls’ Basketball Shuts Down St. Ursula Academy on Senior Night, 51–33
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team delivered a dominant performance Monday, defeating rival St. Ursula Academy 51–33 on Senior Night in the Sullivan Center.
With the convincing league win, the Fighting Irish improved to 13–6 overall and 5–3 in the Catholic High School League, while also securing a season sweep of the Arrows. Earlier this year, Central Catholic earned a 55–45 road victory at the SUA Field House on January 12.
The Fighting Irish defense set the tone, holding SUA to nine points or fewer in three of the four quarters. Offensively, senior guard Serinity Bolden led the way with 20 points, sparking Central Catholic to its 10th win in the last 11 games.
Senior guard Marissa Justen added 15 points, including three three-pointers, while senior guard Nina Stevens and junior guard Madison Stricker chipped in eight points apiece to round out the balanced scoring effort.
St. Ursula was led by Jazlyn Huntley, who finished with 16 points.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS junior varsity team earned a 39–31 home victory over the Arrows.
Central Catholic returns to action Wednesday, February 4, when the Fighting Irish travel to league rival Notre Dame Academy for another key CHSL matchup.
