Football Sprints Past Mona Shores in Regular-Season Finale, 35-13
The Central Catholic football team wrapped up its regular season with a convincing 35-13 victory vs. Mona Shores on Friday at Gallagher Stadium. With the resounding non-conference win, CCHS improves to 6-4 overall.
The Fighting Irish posted a decisive 393-265 advantage in total offense against the Sailors (5-4), posting 232 yards on the ground and 161 yards through the air.
Junior RB Jeremiah Fuller led the offensive onslaught with 145 yards rushing and a season-tying best 3 TDs, topping the century mark for the 3rd time in the last 4 games.
In addition, junior QB Ali Beydoun completed 9-of-16 passes for 161 yards, including a 66-yard TD pass to senior WR Preston Fryzel on Central Catholic’s opening possession.
Following Fryzel’s opening score, the Scarlet & Gray utilized 16-yard and 56-yard scoring runs by Fuller to build a 21-0 cushion in the 2nd period.
The Sailors fought back in the waning seconds of the 1st half, tallying points on a 1-yard TD plunge from QB Joe Thole. Fortunately for the Fighting Irish, senior DB Victor Singleton, Jr. blocked Mona Shores’ extra point to make the score 21-6 at halftime.
Neither team crossed the goal line in the 3rd quarter. Central Catholic then put the game away early in the 4th quarter on the heels of scoring runs by Fuller and sophomore RB Zyeri McCray to set the final score at 35-13.
