Samantha Reagan Picked Student of the Month for October

TOLEDO, OH - Senior Samantha Reagan is a part of the Campus Ministry Core Team, and she runs its Instagram page.  She is in the Student Council and the Ambassadors for Life Club.  She is also a retreat leader, voice of the morning announcements, member and social media representative for the Glee Club, and a member and officer in the Drama Club.

Outside of school, she attends Mass every Sunday at St. Joseph Maumee Catholic Parish.  She has owned a nail business called Press Ons By Sam for the past two years.  She sells through Facebook and Instagram and at vendor events like the Grand Rapids Apple Butter Festival and the Perrysburg Farmers Market.  She also began taking pictures last summer and now has her own photography business called Captured by Sam.  She mostly takes senior pictures and does photo shoots with couples.

“I chose Central Catholic because of the family environment here,” Samantha said.  “CCHS has helped me grow not only in academics, but in my faith life.  I have grown so much closer to God since being here, and all of the opportunities I have been given have helped me grow more and more in my faith.  I also feel like Central Catholic has greatly set me up for my future.”

“Sam is an absolute delight to have in the classroom and on stage,” said Rebecca (Barrow) Buckman ’04, Director of Vocal Music.  “She brings a level of maturity, grace, and thoughtfulness to everything she takes on, whether in her daily work or in performance.  Her presence and dedication make her a wonderful asset to our vocal music program and the Central Catholic community.”

“Sam is a pleasure to have in class,” added Julie Saba, Pre-Calculus teacher.  “Her positive spirit and attitude in class make her a joy to teach.”

Samantha’s future plans include getting her doctorate in English, and she hopes to attend Penn State.  “I want to be a college professor and teach English, but I don't just want to teach, I want to impact people's lives and make a difference,” she said.  “I would also like to be a voice for the voiceless, and stand up against abortion.  A big part of who I am is advocating to end abortion, and I would love to continue speaking up throughout my life.”

“Sam is an unsung hero at Central Catholic!” expressed English teacher and Drama Club moderator, Angela Mills.  “The level of her involvement in activities and her leadership across a wide range of clubs is incredibly impressive.  She brings a quiet strength to the room wherever she goes and is sure to do great things in the future!”
