Kevon Harrison Tabbed Student of the Month for January
Kevon Harrison is a member of the National Honor Society, and he is an Irish Ambassador. He played offensive line and was a captain for the Fighting Irish football team, he plays center on the basketball squad, and he has been on the track & field team. He joined the Glee Club this year. He was also chosen as one of the top five candidates for SuperFella to represent the Class of 2026, along with classmates Christian Kynard, Zenaje Liggons, John Rudski, and Draden Wardrop. The winner will be announced February 6.
“I first chose to attend Central Catholic because we had the best football program in Northwest Ohio, but after being here for four years I realize that CCHS is so much more than that,” Kevon said. “Central Catholic provides a great education that challenges us as students to be great. It isn’t easy, but with hard work and dedication it is almost impossible to fail. Even if you struggle, CCHS has things like homework help and other assistance to help students. My education here has impacted my life by helping me understand that nothing is given to me, and I’m going to have to work for it.”
“Kevon is a fabulous student and a better person,” said Katie Shanahan, English teacher and National Honor Society co-moderator. “In Senior Seminar, Kevon works hard to complete his work and do well in class. As the NHS advisor, I was so thrilled to have him achieve membership. Kevon has a ready smile and tries to share his joy with others. His classmates and I enjoy his positive attitude, and he reminds all of us that life isn't all work; joy is necessary.”
“Kevon is an outstanding student who takes his academics seriously and always strives to do his best in the classroom,” added Logan Lorenzen (Class of 2012), social studies teacher and varsity assistant football coach. “He is responsible, focused, and consistently completes his work with care and effort. In addition to his academic success, he balances his roles as a football and basketball player with maturity and strong time-management skills.”
After the first semester of his senior year, Kevon had approximately 12 college scholarship offers to continue both his education and football career, including opportunities at the Division I and Division II levels. He is currently evaluating his options and continuing conversations with college coaches.
