What advice would you give to females in high school?
I’d tell them to take advantage of every opportunity they get to improve and better themselves. As a student, keep up with homework and projects, stay on top of your grades, and learn how to communicate with teachers professionally. As an athlete, I’d tell them to learn how to prioritize sports and school. I’d emphasize to them to know what needs to come first and what needs to get done in order to have a reasonable amount of time to play sports and keep grades up. And lastly, I’d mention to never let being an athlete be an excuse for your grades to not be where they should be.

Tell us about a woman you look up to & why.
I look up to my mom. She is the hardest working woman I know. She is a wife, mother of two, Godmother to one, and acts like a mom for many others. I admire her because she has owned a childcare facility for the last 17 years. She recently went back to school to earn a master’s degree in education, while also being in charge of youth ministry at our church. She is also currently working on opening her own charter school. She does so much and still find ways for my brother and I to have everything we need, plus what we want. If I had to choose a woman I want to strive to be, I would choose my mom.

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?
Women’s History Month is very important to me. I believe it’s time for everyone to appreciate and acknowledge the great things that women have achieved and overcome. Sometimes women don’t get the credit they deserve, so I’m glad this month is specifically reserved for us!

What do you love about Central Catholic High School?
There are so many things to love about Central Catholic. If I had to choose one, I would pick the family atmosphere. When I came to shadow in the 8th grade, I felt like everyone loved each other and loved to be there. Now that I’m here and get to experience it for myself, I love it even more. From the pep rallies, to the football games and the retreats, all of it shows how much of a family we actually are. People looking in only see a fraction of the love that I get to experience every single day.
