Boys’ Basketball Falls in Overtime to Trotwood-Madison in Division III State Semifinals, 55–53

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 55–53 overtime loss to Trotwood-Madison on Thursday in the OHSAA Division III State Semifinals at UD Arena on the campus of the University of Dayton. With the neutral-site setback, the Fighting Irish conclude their season with a 23–4 overall record.

Trotwood-Madison forced overtime on a three-pointer by Darius Dennis as time expired in regulation, before Je’Carious Reaves scored the game-winning basket with 1.8 seconds remaining in the extra period.

Senior guard Draden Wardrop led Central Catholic with 15 points and six rebounds while shooting an efficient 6-of-7 from the field. Senior guard Manny Johnson added 12 points, and junior guard Cayden Kynard contributed 11 points along with four assists and three steals.

Reaves paced the Rams (23–4) with a game-high 16 points.

Thursday’s contest marked the final game in the Scarlet & Gray for seniors Kaeden Carruthers, Kevon Harrison, Manny Johnson, Kingston Sito, Anthony Sylvester, and Draden Wardrop, who helped lead Central Catholic to its first regional championship since 2011.
