Boys’ Basketball Utilizes Strong Second Half to Take Down Mumford, 53-44
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team earned a 53–44 come-from-behind victory over Mumford on Friday in the Sullivan Center. With the non-conference win, the Fighting Irish improve to 15–3 on the season.
CCHS outscored the Mustangs 34–22 in the second half, bouncing back in impressive fashion after a tough loss in the Catholic High School League Bishop Tournament quarterfinals.
Senior guard Manny Johnson led the Scarlet & Gray with a game-high 18 points and a season-best 17 rebounds, recording a double-double. Senior forward Kaeden Carruthers added 12 points, while senior forward Kingston Sito chipped in nine.
Mumford was paced by Joel Basima, who finished with 17 points.
Central Catholic returns to action Tuesday, February 17, when the Fighting Irish travel to Findlay for a non-conference matchup. The freshman game tips off at 4:45 p.m. in the FHS Main Gym, followed by the junior varsity and varsity contests.
