CCHS (5-4) is coming off a dominating 40-0 shutout victory vs. rival St. Francis de Sales on “Senior Night” at home. The Fighting Irish took advantage of a season-high 3 TDs by junior RB Jeremiah Fuller, a pick 6 from senior DB Victor Singleton, Jr., and a 61-yard TD reception by senior WR Preston Fryzel to register their 24th-straight win in the series and successfully hold onto the coveted Irish-Knight Trophy. Central Catholic has not lost to its rival since 2003.
The Scarlet & Gray dominated all facets of Friday’s non-league matchup vs. the Knights (5-4), finishing with a 393-60 advantage in total yards (204 yards on the ground, 189 yards through the air).
Individually, Fuller rushed for a season-high 153 yards and 2 scores in the 1st half. The 2025 CHSL All-Catholic honoree was credited with TD runs covering 46 and 30 yards in the opening half and a 69-yard kickoff return for a score in the 3rd quarter.
In addition, Beydoun completed 7-of-13 passes for 132 yards, and Fryzel had 3 catches for a season-high 109 yards.
Overall this fall, Beydoun has connected on 83-of-143 passes (58.0 percent) for 1,021 yards and 9 TDs. Fuller has carried the ball 132 times for 886 yards with 10 scores. Beydoun’s favorite target has been Fryzel with 19 receptions for 457 yards and 4 TDs.
Mona Shore is a member of the Ottawa-Kent Conference, and it has won a pair of state titles on the gridiron in 2019 and 2020. They are coached by Matt Koziak.
The Sailors enter Friday’s action on the heels of back-to-back wins vs. Forest Hills Northern, 27-14, and Union, 47-21.
The Fighting Irish and Sailors have 1 common opponent this fall, River Rouge. CCHS defeated the Panthers, 35-13, on September 26, while Mona Shores secured a 16-6 victory on September 5.
A season ago, Central Catholic turned away a 2-point conversion with 1:35 left in regulation to secure a 14-13 road victory vs. previously unbeaten Mona Shores. Senior RB Anthony Sylvester paced CCHS with a game-high 104 yards on the ground and 1 TD.
The host Sailors scored the game’s only points in the 1st half on the strength of a 4-yard TD run with less than 15 seconds showing in the clock. CCHS knotted the score the score at 7-7 following a 2-yard scamper by Sylvester with 6:12 left in the 3rd period. The Fighting Irish then took the lead for good, 14-7, on a 2-yard TD run from QB Isaiah Fox with 8:43 left in regulation. Mona Shores fought right back and tallied a 6-yard TD run by QB Jonathan Pittman with 2:25 remaining in regulation. Instead of kicking the extra point, the Sailors tried a trick play but was unsuccessful to keep CCHS in front by a single point. The home team recovered the onside kick on the Fighting Irish 46-yard line to give themselves 1 final chance to get the win. Fortunately for Central Catholic, Mona Shores turned the ball over on downs with just a little over 1 minute left.
