Girls’ Basketball Drops CHSL Road Contest at Father Gabriel Richard, 33–26

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team fell 33–26 on Friday night vs. Father Gabriel Richard in Ann Arbor. With the road setback, the Fighting Irish drop to 1–3 overall and 0–2 in Catholic High School League (CHSL) play.

Father Gabriel Richard used a strong finish—outscoring Central Catholic 17–9 in the fourth quarter—to secure the league victory and protect its home floor.

Senior G Nina Stevens led the Fighting Irish with 10 points, marking her third double-digit performance in the season’s first four games. Junior F Ava Jones added eight points in the effort.

FGR’s Vanessa Rodriguez paced all scorers with 15 points, including nine in the decisive final period.

Earlier in the evening, the Central Catholic junior varsity squad earned a 33–31 win over the Irish.

Central Catholic returns to action this afternoon against Bowsher in the Sullivan Center. The junior varsity game tips off at 1 p.m., followed by the varsity contest.  Tickets for today’s games can be purchased by clicking HERE.
