Football Throttles Unbeaten Lumen Christi Catholic on Road, 49-7

JACKSON, MI — The Central Catholic football team extended its winning streak to four consecutive games with an emphatic 49-7 victory over previously unbeaten Lumen Christi Catholic on Friday night at Crowley Stadium.

With the impressive road victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 5-1 on the season, while handing the Titans their first loss and snapping their 13-game winning streak.

Senior running back Jeremiah Fuller powered the Scarlet & Gray with a season-high 219 rushing yards on 15 carries and a career-best five touchdowns. A team captain, Fuller has now scored at least three touchdowns in four of Central Catholic’s first six games this season.

Sophomore quarterback Lincoln Sellers also turned in a strong performance, completing 8-of-18 passes for a season-high 276 yards and one touchdown. Senior wide receiver Amari Eliano was Sellers’ favorite target, hauling in four passes for 108 yards.

Sophomore wide receiver Robert Douglas III also found the end zone, connecting with Sellers on a 28-yard touchdown reception.

The Fighting Irish built a 28-7 halftime advantage before pulling away in the second half to secure their fourth consecutive victory.

Central Catholic will return to CHSL action with a trip to Detroit Catholic Central on Saturday, October 3.  Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Fr. Richard Elmer, C.S.B. Stadium.

Last fall, CCHS dropped a 27-14 decision against DCC at home. The Scarlet & Gray was outscored 21-0 vs. the Shamrocks in the second half.

Running back Anthony Sylvester led the Fighting Irish with 62 yards rushing on 16 carries and crossed the goal line on two occasions. In addition, quarterback Ali Beydoun completed 18-of-27 passes for 126 yards.  Beydoun’s favorite target was wide receiver Preston Fryzel, who hauled in five catches for 54 yards.
