Football Dismantles Rival St. Francis de Sales, 47-7, to Retain Irish-Knight Trophy
TOLEDO, OH - The Central Catholic football team opened Catholic High School League (CHSL) play in impressive fashion, dominating crosstown rival St. Francis de Sales, 47-7, tonight inside the Glass Bowl at the University of Toledo!!!
With the convincing victory, the Fighting Irish (3-1, 1-0 CHSL) secure their 25th CONSECUTIVE WIN in the series & once again retain the coveted Irish-Knight Trophy!!! Central Catholic has not lost to the Knights (1-3, 0-1 CHSL) since 2003.
Senior captain Jeremiah Fuller powered the Scarlet & Gray offense with four touchdowns. Fuller rushed for 115 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns in the first half alone and has now recorded multiple TDs in each of the last three games.
Sophomore quarterback Lincoln Sellers was sharp through the air, completing 9-of-12 passes for 177 yards & two touchdowns to help fuel the Fighting Irish offensive attack.
CCHS will return to Gallagher Stadium to host another crosstown rival, St. John’s Jesuit, on Friday, September 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Last fall, CCHS defeated the Titans, 42-7, at Lyden Field. Central Catholic took advantage of 152 yards rushing and 3 TDs by Fuller to collect its 11th straight win vs. SJJ. Fuller found the end zone on scoring runs of 16, 18, and 2 yards, all in the first half.
Central Catholic also benefited from TD passes by quarterback Ali Beydoun to wide receivers Preston Fryzel and Jerome Davis V, along with a 54-yard scoop and score by defensive back Victor Singleton, Jr. following a blocked field-goal attempt, prompting a running clock in the second half.
